Amy Libby, LCSW will offer Say Goodnight to Insomnia, a six-week cognitive behavioral therapy program for the treatment of insomnia.

The course will take place on Wednesdays beginning June 5 at Pen Bay Healthcare’s Picker Family Resource Center from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Say Goodnight to Insomnia participants will learn about the biology of sleep and the stress response system, how to challenge sleep thoughts and behaviors, sleep scheduling, lifestyle habits and relaxation techniques that improve sleep. Amy Libby is a licensed clinical social worker and has worked in the Midcoast area since 1998. She is currently the program manager at Harbor Family Services and has been teaching CBT for insomnia for three years. CBT for insomnia, a program developed from over 20 years of research and clinical practice by Gregg Jacobs, PhD, at Harvard Medical School and the University of Massachusetts, is based on a central theme: insomnia can only be treated by addressing the underlying causes, changing thoughts and behaviors around sleep.
