Our pet pick of the week is Smudge, a 4-year-old black and white domestic short-haired cat. This big lug is a real sweetheart. He is a shelter staff favorite. What's not to love? Smudge loves to lounge around in the middle of all the shelter hustle and bustle. He gets along fine with other cats. He enjoys being adored and will readily return the same in kind. Stop in and meet Smudge and all the other fabulous felines we have available for adoption. We have plenty of great dogs too.

Looking for a pint-sized ball of adorable, energetic fur, aka a cute kitten? Perhaps maybe two? We have dozens of kittens ready or soon to be ready for adoption, growing and thriving in foster care. If you are interested in adopting a kitten or two, stop in and speak with a staff member. We would be happy to match you with a foster family so you can find just the kitten you are looking for.

Join us on Saturday, May 18 for our annual Clean Up and Cook Out . We need help sprucing up the place with a new coat of paint, weeding the garden, grooming the dog trails and the like. We will start at 10 a.m. (garden tools welcome) work up an appetite and then around noon we will feed you a grilled lunch in appreciation of your hard work. Many hands make light work and it is sure to be fun. Our annual meeting will be held at 1 p.m., following lunch.

Save the date: On May 24 and 25 we will be holding our annual Doggone Yard Sale/Plant Sale/Bake sale at American Legion Post 37 in Thomaston.
