Working on received information, prison and state officials foiled a scheme for a daughter to pass along nine strips of the drug Suboxone with a kiss to her incarcerated family member, according to a press release from Corrections Department Spokesperson Scott Fish.

On April 21, corrections security network officials, in cooperation with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, intercepted a mother and daughter visiting a family member at Maine State Prison, said the release.

Both the mother and daughter were arrested. Currently, corrections officials are recommending both be banned from visiting any Maine Department of Corrections facility permanently, said the release.

Charges are pending with the prisoners involved.
