A memorial celebration for James V. Bitner has been scheduled for Saturday, May 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the auditorium at Owls Head Transportation Museum in Owls Head.

Light refreshments and beverages will be served, and all interested people are invited to attend. Time will be provided for brief words from family and friends.

Bitner passed away Oct. 18, 2012, but his memorial arrangements were postponed due to complications from Storm Sandy in early November.

A resident of Rockport since 1984, Jim Bitner dedicated himself to community service, which included extensive volunteering at Owls Head Transportation Museum and the First Congregational Church of Camden. His wife, Jinny, died in 2000, and they are survived by two daughters and a son, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Condolences may be shared with the family at longfuneralhomecamden.com. Arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St., Camden.
