Rain and snow the night before forced Medomak Valley High School officials to modify, including abandoning one field and moving to another, the Panther softball preseason play day on Saturday, April 13.

Medomak Valley hosted six squads, including Oceanside of Rockland/Thomaston, Hermon, Greely of Cumberland, Bucksport, Messalonskee of Oakland and Oak Hill of Sabattus.

Games were to begin at 8:30 a.m., but did not start until around 10:15 a.m. due to unplayable fields. Games also were to be held on the Medomak Valley High School and Medomak Middle School fields, but the high school field was too wet and had snow on it from the storm over the previous 24 hours.

Thus, games were held at MMS near MVHS and the John Foster Little League field situated six to eight miles from the high school.

Included are photos from the play day.

Oceanside will open the regular season on Wedneday, April 17 at 1 p.m. at Nokomis of Newport, while Medomak Valley will begin the campaign by hosting Leavitt of Turner at 1 p.m. the same day.
