The following is a synopsis of the 2013 Camden Hills High School girls tennis team:

Coach/years coached current team: Karen Brace, ninth year.

Last year's record/playoff information: 11-1, fourth in Eastern Class B. The Windjammers were downed by No. 5 Mount Desert Island 4-1 in the quarterfinals. Camden Hills also competed in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B championship match, falling to Waterville.

Roster: Seniors Camilla Walker, Christine Forcillo, Katie Pratt, Emily Ruger and Jolly Brown; juniors Abby Blakeley, Hannah Olsen, Lila Ohland, Ellie Pendleton and Eliza Carter; sophomore Macy Buck; and freshman Katie Vannorsdall.

Outlook: The Windjammers return several talented players from last year's team and have their top three singles players in place in Blakeley, Walker and Forcillo. The doubles teams have yet to be made official, though Pratt, Olson, Buck and Vannorsdall likely will make up the two teams.

Blakeley slides into the first singles slot, supplanting sister Emma Blakeley, who graduated last season. Blakeley has displayed terrific all-around skill through her first two seasons and could make another jump this season, while Walker has "consistency and power" and Forcillo, new to the singles ladder, puts a nice spin on the ball and has strong placement, the coach said.

Pratt, Olson, Buck and Vannorsdall are strong players, with Pratt and Olson having a great deal of varsity experience, Buck a reliable all-around game and Vannorsdall, as a freshman, proving to be "very coachable and eager" in the preseason, Brace said.

Coach Brace has confidence in her team this season, evident by her expectations of earning a berth in the regional final "and hopefully winning it."

"It depends on how strong Waterville is this year, and other teams change so much it's hard to predict," she said. "But this is a very good team."
