Appleton Library will host the 3rd annual "Baking for Books" event Saturday, April 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. The library is currently seeking Midcoast bakers to submit book-themed cakes, or homemade cakes for eating. Prizes will be awarded to book-themed cakes in the following categories: Judge's Award, People's Choice Award and Kid's Cake Award. All themed cakes will be auctioned off in a silent auction, and all proceeds from this event will be used to purchase new books for the library!

Join neighbors and friends for this fun-filled event to view the creativity of our local bakers and to enjoy some delicious desserts. Admission will be $5 for a slice of cake and beverage and extra slices may be purchased for $2/slice. There will be a family cap of $20. The seniors-to-lunch day will be April 8 at 11:30 a.m. If you plan on going please call the school that morning so they can prepare, at 785-4504.

The cake auction and talent show will be April 11 at 6 p.m. Go to hear our young, local talent, and then bid on a cake!

School will dismiss early April 12, at 11:30 a.m. Spring break is April 15-19.

Appleton Historical Society News

The Second annual AHS Benefit Plant Sale will take place Saturday, May 4, at 9 a.m. Divide some of your plants, and donate them to the plant sale! All proceeds to benefit the Appleton Historical Society, and its efforts to preserve Appleton's heritage and history, and our Union Meetinghouse. We need to raise about $50,000. to replenish our modest endowment, and paint the Union Meetinghouse. Lead abatement is costly.

Annual Appleton Cemetery Work Day, will be a Saturday in May, yet to be announced.

Windjammer Travel Basketball News

Congratulations to Morgan Ford who is a member of the Five Towns Windjammer Travel Basketball Team. He was selected as an All-Tournament Player in the Medomak Midcoast Madness Tournament that his team participated in last weekend. One player was selected from each team based on their overall performance during the games.

YMCA to Offer Free Learn to Swim Program

Your child can learn swim basics and water safety during the Penobscot Bay YMCA Learn to Swim Program. This program will take place from April 16 through 19. The program is free to all and participants are grouped together by age and ability. Each class will be 30 minutes long. Don’t miss a great opportunity for your child to learn how to swim for free. CHRHS Bands to hold Spring Concert

The Camden Hills Regional High School bands will hold their annual Spring Concert on Tuesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. in Strom Auditorium. Groups to be featured include the CHRHS Concert and Jazz bands. Repertoire will include works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Duke Ellington and many more. Admission to the concert is free.
