Oceanside High School will present its one-act version of William Shakespeare’s comedy “Twelfth Night” Thursday, April 11, at 7 p.m. in the performing arts center of Oceanside East, 400 Broadway, during the parent/teacher conferences evening.

Admission will be $8, $6 for students and senior citizens. The encore is a fundraiser for the school’s acting troupe, which placed second in the Class A State Finals of the 2013 Maine Drama Festival. Because the first-place finisher, Bangor High School, did not register for going to the New England Drama Festival, Oceanside will go instead.

New England is not a competitive festival; it is a chance for the winners of the region’s state festivals to get together and show their stuff. This year’s New England Drama Festival will be held April 17 through 19 in Woonsocket, R.I.

As it will cost about $300 per student to make the trip, and there are more than three dozen in the Oceanside cast and crew, a goal of more than $10,000 has been set. In addition to the performance, the troupe is holding an ongoing silent auction as well as raising funds via GoFundMe.com. Anyone who can donate but prefers to not use the website is asked to contact Zack Picard at 691-8190 or the high school at 596-2010.
