A 26-year-old North Haven man was arrested over the weekend for a sex crime against a teenage female.
Ryan Lantagne was released from the Knox County Jail March 25 on $1,500 cash bail.
He is charged with sexual abuse of a minor, according to court documents.
An investigation began when a relative of the girl contacted Knox County Sheriff's Detective Don Murray to report that a sexual encounter may have occurred in October.
The relative told police something may have happened after reading a passage in the girl's journal, according to an affidavit.
The girl, who was 14 years old at the time, was interviewed by police and verified there was a sexual relationship between her and Lantagne, according to an affidavit.
Electronic devices owned by Lantagne were taken for evidence.
Lantagne is a former North Haven boys basketball coach. He resigned at the conclusion of the 2012 regular season, before the Western Class D playoffs.
Lantagne is expected to appear in Knox County Superior Court May 29.
