Camden Snow Bowl's Ragged Mountain has long played host to skis, snowboards, toboggans and inner tubes, but Saturday, March 16, cardboard boxes were the order of the day.

According to a press release, the event — which was sponsored by the Ragged Mountain Recreation Area Foundation and Camden Snow Bowl — was "an amazing success."

Fifty teams participated in the cardboard box race, vehicle decorations for which included dollhouses, tanks, space shuttles, sailboats and leprechauns.

Although several vehicles pitched over or stopped completely during race proceedings, a team of "countless volunteers" kept proceedings moving and provided snacks at the bottom of the race track.

The event was planned to draw people to the town-owned facility to learn more about the Snow Bowl capital campaign. Current plans for Camden Snow Bowl's redevelopment are available on the organization's website.
