The Waldoboro Planning Board approved an application for a company to use existing property on Jefferson Street as a seasonal eel buying depot.

The property, located at 169 Jefferson St., behind Bear Hill True Value, is currently up for sale. The 1.98 acre parcel is on the market for $80,000.

In prior seasons, Delaware Fish Company used the parking lot beside Irving gas station, but has been looking for a less congested location.

The board also heard discussions about a land use district map revision to change some parcels located on West Main Street, currently in the Rural District, to Route 1 Commercial B District.

"The board decided not to pursue the revision because of the input received from affected property owners," said Bill Najpauer, planning and development director.

"The owners stated they were happy with the current zoning," he said.

A review of the Atlantic Storage Center LLC to construct a self-storage facility to be located at 1689 Atlantic Highway was continued to the April 10 meeting at the request of the applicant, who is revising the site plan.

The board decided to present proposed Land Use Ordinance revisions, which had previously not passed review in November 2012, to voters for consideration. The proposed changes will first be presented to the selectmen to be placed on the warrant for a June vote.

Prior to the vote, a public hearing will be held to accept public comment on the proposed changes.
