Kindergarten Registration for 2013-2014

Registration for next year’s kindergarten class is scheduled for the morning of Thursday, April 4. Registration materials will be mailed mid-March to parents who have provided their names to the school. If you have an eligible child (5 years old on or before Oct. 15) and have not yet contacted AVS, please call 785-4504. We want to remind parents of students in our current kindergarten class they should not attend school on April 4.

Appleton Baptist Church Easter Services

Spring is approaching fast, and along with that is Easter! Easter is on March 31 this year. Appleton Baptist Church will have their traditional sunrise service up on Appleton Ridge, at the corner of Town Hill and Appleton Ridge roads. The sunrise service will be at 6 a.m. Following the service will be a breakfast at the Appleton Village School at 6:30 a.m. I know it’s early, but it is a wonderful time of fellowship with the community. There is no charge for the breakfast. All are welcome to attend! There won’t be Sunday school at the church that morning, but the regular worship service will start as normal at 10:45 a.m. For more information you may call the church at 785-4921 or email appletonbaptist.sec@gmail.com.

Work in Malawi

This past week a team from the Belfast area, and three people from Appleton — Betsy Shaw, John Boyington and Allison Boyington — headed out to Malawi, Africa. While they are there they will be repairing bore holes (wells), and working with orphans. Last year when a team went they repaired drinking water to 75,000 people by fixing 26 bore holes. They hope to do about the same this year. It’s a blessing to me to see different neighbors on the Ridge come together to support the work by donating money for the past two years to repair the bore holes! I will give you more information after the team returns from Malawi later on in March. For more information on the project you can visit the website gospel-in-action.org.
