Daniel and Holly Landry announce the birth of their son. He weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces and was born Feb. 28. The Landrys live on Robbins Road in Hope.

March Sports Clinics at Camden-Rockport Elementary School

Baseball – 5:30 to 7 p.m. on March 4, 20 and 25, for ages 9 -12

Softball 5:30 to 7 p.m. on March 5, 12, 19 and 26, for grades 3, 4, and 5 or new players

Players must be registered online to participate in the clinic.

Major League try outs – must be registered with CRLL to tryout (no walk-ins) those who made Majors last season will automatically have a slot on a team, but will still need to try out for the draft – scheduled for Saturday, March 23, in the Camden-Rockport Middle School gym – bring your glove, sneakers only.

Girls' Softball

Girls' Softball will begin practice with pitchers and catchers the week of March 25 and full team practice will start April 1. Coach Larry Maddocks will be sending out general information regarding start-up info and scheduling a time and date for an after school pre-season meeting for all players and their parents very soon. Girls who have already signed up and any others that wish to at this time, in grades 6-8 please leave your name in the office ASAP so that Coach Maddocks will know who should be sent information and notices.

Connections presents Daughters & Dads

Knox County and Lincolnville girls in grades 3, 4 and 5 and their dads, step-dads, grandfathers, uncles or other significant men in their life are invited to attend the March sessions of the Daughters and Dads program. The sessions will be at Pen Bay YMCA March 14, 21 and 28 at 6 p.m.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to be route-takers for the Hope Birthday Calendar. This is a great way to get to know the people of Hope. For more information on what this entails, please contact Bethany Fields at befields4@gmail.com or 542-4327.

Senior Community Lunch

Thursday, March 7, will be the senior community lunch at the Hope school. Lunch will be served at 11:05 a.m., the cost will be $4 per person. If you wish to attend please call the school at 785-4081 the day before, Wednesday, March 6, for reservations. This is a chance to come and join your neighbors for lunch and a good time. The menu will include corn chowder, biscuit, salad bar (including diced ham). As far as I know at this writing I will be seeing you there.

Ladies Club

The next Ladies Club meeting will be March 12 starting at 10 a.m. at Hope Corner Fire Station. Darlene Barrows will present a program about books. For lunch, at noon, there will be homemade chicken noodle soup and dessert. A discussion will take place during the business meeting about the future of this organization, however, due to illness a number of the officers will not be there.

On March 14 at noon, the Class of 1958 will meet at The Waterfront Restaurant to continue talking about their class reunion.

50th Anniversary

William and Francina Pearse will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary at Hope Corner Fire Station on April 21, please mark your calendars – more information to follow.

Budget Committee

It is time again for the town of Hope to be organized and hold their meetings, as you read this they have already had two meetings. The following people are the members of the budget committee: Brittany Payson, Janice Campbell, Jean Ettlinger, Jill Lang, John Jenson, Joseph Berry, Mark Dierckes, Terry Miller and William Pearse Jr. They will be holding election of Chairman and Secretary soon. Remember anyone can attend these meetings.

Snowmobile Club

Next meeting of the Hatchet Mountain Sno-Riders will be March 14 at 6 p.m. at Hope Corner Fire Station, with a pot luck supper.
