Members of the Oceanside High School East class of 2013, staff and supporters braved the frigid temperatures March 2 as part of a fundraiser.
According to Project Graduation adviser Sue Johnson, 35 to 40 people participated in the Annual Polar Plunge at Snow Marine Park on Mechanic Street in Rockland. The event raised nearly $2,000 that will go toward the chemical-free celebration for this year's graduates at Oceanside.
The air temperature was 37 degrees, but just the sight of the water brought chills to the numerous witnesses at the event.
