The high school golf season has started fast and furious for three Midcoast squads, with Oceanside, Medomak Valley and Camden Hills on the links Aug. 30 in home matches.

As it turns out, it was the Mariners who were on their “A” game, earning the lone victory among the three local squads.

Oceanside bested Cony of Augusta 5.5 to 3.5, while Maranacook of Readfield defeated the Windjammers 6.5 to 2.5 and Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield blanked the Panthers 9-0. Oceanside and Medomak Valley played on the Rockland Golf Course and Camden Hills at its home at the Samoset Resort Golf Course.

Oceanside 5.5, Cony 3.5

At Rockland Aug. 30, the Mariners (2-0) won their second match in two days, prevailing over the Rams (1-1). Oceanside earned the victory with a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 172 to 180. Cony won three individual matches to Oceanside’s two, while the two squads tied one match, but the Mariners earn three valuable points with the lowest team stroke total.

Oceanside’s Nick Mazurek shot 36 to earn medalist honors.

The individual results, with Mariners listed first, were: Mazurek (36) beat Tyler Leet (50), 4-3; Reilly Flanagan (39) tied Zack Gagne (40); Zeke Hamlin (54) lost to Foster (49), 3-2; Jordan Carter (43) defeated Ben Leet (46), 2-1; Bethany Schulberg (61) lost to Peachey (45), 5-4; and Josh Clough (60) lost to Casey Bancroft (55), 1-up.

Maranacook 6.5, Camden Hills 2.5

At Rockport Aug. 30, the Black Bears (2-0) proved to be road warriors as they earned a win over the Windjammers (1-1) at the Samoset Resort. Maranacook earned the victory with a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 158 to 165.

Maranacook’s Luke Ruffing was the medalist with 35.

The individual results, with Windjammers listed first, were: Daulton Wickenden (36) lost to Ruffing (35); Drew Long (40) beat Cam Brocher (42); Drew Holt (48) tied Matt Delmar (48); Julian Starbird (49) lost to Tucker Whitman (42); Eddie Socker (56) lost to Bailey Clark (39); and Teddy Laurita (40) beat Connor Ireland 63.

In junior varsity play, Jack Orne (54) beat Matt Gyorgy (56); and Oliver Bianchi (57) lost to Adam Brooks (54).

Maine Central Institute 9, Medomak Valley 0

At Rockland Aug. 30, the Huskies blanked the host Panthers (0-2) with a victory at the Rockland Golf Club. MCI earned the decision with a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 158 to 165.

MCI’s Gavin Dugas was the medalist with 45.

The individual results, with Panthers listed first, were: Aaron Smeltzer (66) lost to Dugas (45); Tyler Emerson (74) lost to Trevor Kitchen (51); Adam Wilcox (54) lost to Dylan Watrous (48); and J.P. Lobley (57) lost to Kale McCarthy (47). Medomak Valley also forfeited to Nate Tilton (49) and Daniel Stephens (66).
