Ellie missing in Hope

Ellie, a Jack Russell Terrier, has been missing from her Hope home since Tuesday, Oct. 18. She and her “sibling” had been missing just a few days prior, and now Ellie has gone off on her own. Please call Ted or Heidi Steele if you have knowledge of her whereabouts, 542-4316.

 

Saying goodbye to old friends

On Oct. 29 and 30, Harry and Marion Swanson are holding an open house at the H. Swanson Gallery and Studio at 2568 Atlantic Highway, Lincolnville Beach. The Swansons are moving to Tennessee, but not before saying goodbye with light refreshments, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on both days. They will be missed.

 

Secret Service in Camden

The arrival of Iceland’s president at the Camden Opera House on Oct. 20 during PopTech produced a detail of security, but not to great excess. A Maine state trooper car, along with two gray SUVs, and an unmarked black sedan blocked off traffic for a few minutes on Washington Street. Men in black suits wearing coiled wires on their ears and Camden Police Chief Randy Gagne kept a close eye on the street while the president disembarked from a silvery SUV. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, the fifth president of the Republic of Iceland, told his audience that Iceland’s security was a result of trusting relationships, honest communication and responsiveness to the people.

 

Breast Cancer Awareness month

In a phone conversation, a gentleman relayed that he had undergone a mammogram, checking on a cyst acquired during an accident. Game for the process, the man donned a pink gown, filled out his paperwork on a pink clipboard and endured the uncomfortable experience. Having a cousin who died recently from breast cancer the man said he realizes how important it is to have a mammogram screening.
