“ArtinMe.,” produced and presented by the Boothbay Region Art Foundation, opened Oct. 1 and is on view through Nov. 19 at the BRAF gallery at 1 Townsend Ave. Winners of the show, which was juried by Lois Dodd, John Wissemann and Nancy Wissemann-Widrig, were announced the evening of Oct. 8.

The winner of the Knickerbocker Group First Place and Best of Show Award is Debra L. Arter of Damariscotta for her assemblage “Day In and Day Out.” Arter is a longtime art teacher for the Five Town CSD Adult & Community Education.

Second Place, The Sherman’s Books and Stationery Award, went to Jay Sawyer of Warren for his round welded sculpture “Feelin’ Lucky.” Sawyer’s Stemwinder Sculpture Works & Gardens on Route 90 is open Mondays through October.

Third Place, the winner of the John Edwards Jewelry & Design Award, is Svetlana Beattie of Augusta for her large oil painting “Tsunami.”

The Boothbay Region Art Foundation Honorable Mention Award went to Diana Young of Bangor for her large acrylic painting “Downtown Belfast.” The Artist & Craftsman Supply Honorable Mention Award winner is Brandon Lutterman of Wiscasset for his ceramic “Ocean’s Edge.” The Cheap Joe’s Honorable Mention Award was given to Wendy Newcomb of Sebago for her oil painting “The Fog Rolls In.”

The show’s judges carefully selected 80 pieces from the 248 works entered for the show and then deliberated the award winners. They each stated that they were impressed with the quality of entries and amazed at the number of really good artists in Maine that they did not know.

“ArtinMe.” is a state-wide juried exhibition aiming to be a fresh and selective look at the art being done by Maine artists today showing originality and skill in all painting, drawing and sculpture media. Hours through October are Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Beginning Nov. 1, the gallery will be open Fridays through Sundays.

The BRAF gallery is located in the heart of Boothbay Harbor, diagonally across from the Memorial Library. Busses are welcome but driver should call 633-2703 first to get directions on parking. Admission is free.
