Our favorite way to start a column: Thank you! to Lexi Tinch, 10 years old, for saving up money and then buying the following items for the shelter: paper towels, dog food, kitten food and laundry detergent. These are things that are always on our wish list, and these have an extra-special meaning because they come from Lexi’s heart.

Sometimes we at CRARL are lucky enough to get big gifts, usually large sums of money that help us meet our budget goals, and we are always happy to get this kind of help. But we are equally as happy to get help in smaller ways, like Lexi’s donation of things we need every day. So please don’t think that just because you can’t help in a big way, you can’t help in a smaller way. We cherish every gift we get, no matter what size, and we count on our friends to continue to support us by volunteering or donating or just stopping by to pass the day with our residents. Our thanks to each and every one of you who helps. You hold a big place in our hearts!

Rocco is a 6-year-old beagle who loves squeaky toys. But that’s not all. This smart fellow knows how to sit, shake both paws, lie down and roll over. He won’t mind living in a home with cats or other dogs as long as there is a family to go with them.

How do you think Rockie, our 2-year-old pit bull, got his name? If you guessed it’s because he likes to play with rocks, you are 100 percent right. He likes to roll them around with his nose, chase them, corner them and then bark at them. And you’ll have just as good a time watching him! He is a darling boy, and he loves everyone he meets.

Triky is hanging out in the kitten room hoping someone will take her home. She is very sweet and very cute, lively but well mannered, and she will make a wonderful addition to any home.

Prince says the shelter is no place for royalty. He’s just about a year old and is ready to make your home his castle.

Here’s an idea: Why not adopt one of these featured animals and then take them to our Photos with Santa event on Saturday, Oct. 15, which is just around the corner? We know they’d love to meet Santa and thank him for their early Christmas present of a forever home.

On our wish list: Purina Kitten Chow, canned cat food, non-clumping cat litter and cat toys.

Please stop in and see us and all our beautiful babes at 146 Camden St. in Rockport. We’re open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays, and our website at crarl.org is never closed! And thank you, as always, for your caring and support.
