The Friends of the Thomaston Public Library announces that it has received $300,000 from the estate of Ruby Morrison, a former librarian and board member of the Thomaston Public Library. This donation has been invested with the Maine Community Foundation.

“The foundation has an excellent track record of managing nonprofit endowments,” said Davene Fahy, president of the Friends of the Thomaston Public Library, in a news release. “This service allows us to focus more on our mission,” Fahy said.

Currently, MaineCF manages more than 140 nonprofit endowments of different sizes from across the state of Maine. “Maine relies on the critical work done by its nonprofits,” said Meredith Jones, MaineCF president and CEO. “Managing their endowments is one way we can help them to grow and prosper.”

Through its diversified primary investment portfolio, MaineCF offers nonprofit organizations access to institutional investment strategies and management normally available only to large investors. The foundation employs multiple professional investment managers with experience in specialized sectors of the investment markets.

The Friends of the Thomaston Public Library is a 501 (C)(3) corporation run by volunteers which exists to benefit the operations of the Thomaston Public Library.
