The Knox County Democratic Committee will have its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the Stella Maris House, 148 Broadway in Rockland at the intersection with Route 1. Everyone is welcome to attend and to participate.

The evening begins with a potluck supper and open discussion for those who wish to bring a salad, main dish or beverage to share. A microwave is available.

A brief business meeting, from 7 to 8 p.m., will include a report on plans for a fall public supper fundraiser. Redistricting Commission member Rep. Joan Welsh, D-Rockport will report on that process, now complete. The body will consider participation in the 4th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Food and Penny Drive for Knox County food pantries.

At 8 p.m. Knox members of the Maine Democratic Party Platform Committee will solicit ideas for consideration during the writing of the 2012 Platform, which will be adopted at the State Convention next spring. They encourage public input now and going forward. Those interested may download the 2010 Platform at

The Platform Committee will be working to consolidate the party principles into a shorter document. It will be helpful if people can bring a copy of the current Platform and bring their ideas in writing so they can leave them with the Knox members for use during the Platform Committee deliberations.

The Stella Maris is accessible to the handicapped and has ample on-site parking and air-conditioning. For more information, please contact Chair Bruce Hodsdon at or at 975-4600.
