Only weeks remain before one lucky person wins a trip to Tuscany, Italy. Penobscot School in Rockland is sponsoring A Week in Tuscany raffle as part of celebrating 25 years of service to Midcoast communities.

Penobscot School, a not-for-profit center for language learning and cultural exchange, is selling 200 raffle tickets at $100 each. Raffle proceeds will fund new programs and building improvements.

First prize is a trip for four to a beautiful villa in Tuscany along with $1,000 toward travel expenses. The villa is owned by Nancy Harmon Jenkins, Penobscot School student and a part-time resident of Camden. Jenkins will welcome the lucky winner, along with the winner’s three guests, to her villa in the spring of 2012.

The drawing also includes second and third prizes. Second prize is a $200 gift certificate to Amalfi’s On the Water. Third prize is an assortment of organic wines from Chartrand Imports.

Penobscot School offers fall and spring semesters of foreign language classes. Each semester includes a wide variety of languages, some for adults and some for children. The school also offers three-week English immersion programs that bring adults from locations worldwide to the Midcoast during the months of June, July and September. Language lunches, at which students may gain and hone their skills, monthly potluck dinners, films, cooking classes, holiday celebrations and a variety of cultural events throughout the year round out the school’s offerings.

Trustee and Rockland resident Joan LeMole said in a news release, “Opportunities for foreign language learning, hosting and forming long-lasting international friendships are among the wonderful things Penobscot School offers to local residents. Don’t miss out on this fun opportunity to support what has been a long-standing asset to the Midcoast community.”

Winners will be announced in November. Purchase tickets at www.penobscot.us, at the school at 28 Gay St. in Rockland, or by calling 594-1084.
