The local blues series will present a rare Friday show Oct. 7. Guitar whiz Anthony Gomes and his band Blues Medicine will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. in the upstairs music room of Time Out Pub, 275 Main St. Admission will be $15.

Gomes, an award-winning, tough rockin’ soulful singer/guitarist and with a rough ‘n’ tumble Nashville-based band, draws on the musical core that links blues, rock, soul and country. He said he and his band mates are, first and foremost, Southern rock, “like a hillbilly Guns N Roses.”

Gomes has shared the stage with Gretchen Wilson, Big and Rich, James Otto and blues legends BB King and Buddy Guy. The group also tears it up live and has played shows with Lynyrd Skynyrd, .38 Special, the Doobie Brothers and Cross Canadian Ragweed, among others.

Next up in the weekly Monday night blues series is Rockland-born D.W. Gill and his Blues Phantoms on Labor Day, Oct. 10. Admission for the 7 to 10 p.m. show will be $10. For more information, visit the Time Out Blues link on
