Pack 200 Cub Scouts of Camden held its season opening pack meeting at the Camden Yacht Club on Sept. 18. Thirty-two boys enjoyed an event filled afternoon including a harbor tour on the Betselma skippered by Capt. Les Bex.

Because Bex is an Eagle Scout, the admission fee onto his boat was to have each Scout tie a satisfactory knot. All the Scouts made it aboard.

The Scouts then competed head-to-head in an exciting rain gutter regatta race. Scouts made small toy sail boats from a kit and raced them by blowing them down a rain gutter filled with water.

After the race, Scouts and families enjoyed a potluck dinner with some entrée’s donated by Cedar Crest.

The pack meeting opened with the firing of the Yacht Club cannon. Scouts who had been active over the summer received awards for various accomplishments. Pack 200 was especially active over the summer months offering eight separate scouting opportunities including overnight camping and Cub Scout day camps. For being active over the summer many scouts earned their National Summertime Award.
