To her Tidemark Gallery show “Field Work,” Sally Loughridge brings a brand-new group of oil and soft pastel paintings of Maine’s fields —  cultivated and wild, earthen and atmospheric. The show will open Wednesday, Sept. 28. The public is invited to a reception for the artist Saturday, Oct. 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery, 902 Main St./Route 220.

Loughridge explores the fields of Maine as they change through the seasons. The “fields” theme has triggered many meanings for this artist, both literal and figurative. She has painted more than 20 new pieces from this expanded perspective — fog bank, peat bog, summer sky, blueberry barren and sea smoke. These and other works will be on exhibit through Oct. 29.

The downtown Tidemark Gallery is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit tidemarkgallery.com or call 832-5109.
