The Friends of the Thomaston Public Library continues its series of films in Room 208 of the Thomaston Academy Building, 60 Main St./Route 1. The Friday night movies for September are films about food. The final film in the Five Course Meal series will be “Chocolat” Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m.

Swedish director Lasse Hallström helms this charming film adaptation of Joanne Harris’ romantic novel. Juliette Binoche plays a young single mother who arrives in 1959 in an uptight French village and opens up small chocolaterie that has a big effect on the townspeople. The terrific cast also features Johnny Depp, Alfred Molina, Judi Dench, Lena Olin and Carrie-Anne Moss.

“Chocolat” is 121 minutes long, was filmed in 2000 and is rated PG-13. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. The building is handicapped accessible via the elevator off the parking lot. For more information, call the library at 354-2453.
