While the high school varsity athletic seasons are in full swing for Midcoast schools, junior varsity teams also continue to find success and learn with a handful of soccer and field hockey games taking place in recent days.

Boys soccer

Camden Hills 4, Medomak Valley 1 … At Waldoboro Sept. 13., the visiting Windjammers prevailed by three goals over the host Panthers. Mark Sweet-Lindsay scored the lone goal for Medomak Valley. Information for the Windjammers was unavailable.

Medomak Valley 4, Oceanside 3 … At Thomaston Sept. 9, the Panthers rallied from 2-0 halftime deficit to stun the host Mariners. Leading Medomak Valley on offense were Mark Sweet-Lindsey, Conor Dahlberg, Jamie Temple, and Cadisen Willis, while Dahlberg, Micah Williamson and Logan Allen each had assists. Medomak Valley 2, Leavitt 0 … At Waldoboro Sept. 2, the Panthers picked up a shutout victory over the visiting Hornets of Turner. Mark Sweet-Lindsay and Cadisen Willis each scored to lead Medomak Valley, while Micah Williamson and Sam Morrill each had assists in the win. Ryan Ripley had the shutout in goal for the Panthers.

Girls soccer

Camden Hills 5, Medomak Valley 3 … At Rockport Sept. 13, the Windjammers earned a two-goal victory over the visiting Panthers. Leading the Panther offense were Lexi Genthner with two goals, while Taylor Mason added one and Laura Dyer one assist. Olivia Ryan made 13 saves in goal for Medomak Valley, while the Windjammers held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. Information for Camden Hills was unavailable.

Oceanside 3, Medomak Valley 1 … At Waldoboro Sept. 9, the Mariners defeated the host Panthers by a two-goal margin. Lexi Genthner scored for Medomak Valley with 14:25 remaining in the game. For Oceanside, Paige Tyler, Lily Vachon and Kacey Buretta all scored, while Kasie Waters, Emily Protheroe, Samantha Calamari, Rachel Robinson, Buretta, Sydney Brooks and Brittany Rytky each added assists.

Olivia Ryan and Abby Maguire each played in net for the Panthers, combining for seven saves. Amy Delbuono played in goal for the Mariners. Oceanside held a 13-3 edge in shots and 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Oak Hill 3, Medomak Valley 2 … At Waldoboro Sept. 8, the Raiders of Sabattus did just enough to get by the Panthers and pick up the victory. Lexi Genthner and Dani Hunt each scored for Medomak Valley, while Olivia Ryan played in net for the Panthers.

Oceanside 2, Winslow 0 … At Thomaston Sept. 8, the Mariners took advantage of a depleted Black Raider squad and picked up the shutout win. Sydney Brooks and Mckaye Stone scored for Oceanside, while Rachel Robinson added an assist. Both goals came in the second half, with Brooks scoring on a penalty shot with 7:30 remaining. The Mariners outshot Winslow 10-0 and held a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.

Field hockey

Nokomis 2, Oceanside 1 … At Rockland Sept. 13, the Mariners came up short and fell to the Warriors by one goal. Bekah Freeman scored the lone goal for Oceanside, on an assist from Jackie Thorbjornson, while Mikayla Pelkey and Meaghan Lovely each scored for Nokomis of Newport. Zoe Billington made 14 saves in the cage for the Mariners, while the Warriors held a 12-4 advantage in penalty corners.

Oceanside 7, Lincoln Academy 0 … At Rockland Sept. 10, the Mariners dominated from start to finish and blanked the visiting Eagles of Newcastle. Freeman scored three goals, while Alexx Chase, Lily Feltus, Audrey Raymond and Trittany Penn also found the back of the cage for the hosts. Chasse (2), Isabella Garver (2), Feltus (1) and Amanda Hoppe (1) also had assists in the win. Billington earned the shutout in net for the Mariners, while the hosts held a 13-2 edge in penalty corners.
