The Appleton library will hold a parent meeting on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10 a.m. to discuss ideas for this year’s Children’s Story Hour.

Story Hour is offered from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday mornings during the school year for youngsters from birth to age 7. Story Hour has historically been managed by parent volunteers who weekly take turns reading stories to participating youngsters, and by personal choice, offering a simple snack or craft activity.

The new Appleton library boasts a beautiful and comfortable children’s area overlooking the river, and an outdoor area and covered gazebo for simple outdoor activities. The library has recently been awarded a $2,000 Early Childhood Reading Grant by Target stores to be spent over the next two years on quality picture books for Story Hour, so there is an air of excitement in the library as it expands to meet the literary needs of its youngest patrons.

Please bring ideas and suggestions for planning a morning that is important to both caregivers and children alike; we look forward to meeting parents and watching children discover the joys of reading. For more information, visit the website at or call 785-5656.
