Camden- educator Deb Vendetti will offer a fun, eight-week workshop creating an animated film in another language. The course is called “Subtitled: animation en français” and will be held in the Picker Room at the Camden Public Library afterschool on Tuesdays, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Sept. 27 to Nov. 15. Multi-ages welcomed, 8 through adult. The only requirements are enthusiasm, a desire to work hard, and a love of drawing and using art materials. Participants will “brainstorm” the film concept and create their characters and any other elements to “personalize” the sets with props and backgrounds.

“We will ‘flesh-out’ a narrated story/script in French, with the help of Madame Elisabeth, our ‘French connection.’ No language requirement necessary, the workshop is appropriate for all levels of French speaker beginner through more advanced,” said Vendetti in a news release.

A frame-by-frame-capable digital video camera is used to approximate classical film animation technique but with the added speed, immediacy, and flexibility of digital video. Post-production editing and mastering of copies is accomplished after the last formal class. DVDs are available for participants within several days.

Please bring some of one’s best drawings or other artwork to share on the first day, and healthy snacks. There will be a public screening and “wrap party” for friends, family and the community at the close of the workshop.
