Pen Bay Medical Center welcomes Alexandra L. Degenhardt, MD, to the staff of Pen Bay’s award-winning neurology practice. She is a neurologist with a special interest in multiple sclerosis.

The Pen Bay Neurology staff also includes Dr. Robert Stein, Dr. Bruce Sigsbee and Dr. Stephanie Lash, one medical assistant, one receptionist and one office manager, as well as Eileen Hawkins, RN, MSN, CNRN, the Pen Bay Stroke Program coordinator.

“My love of science, strong interest in the brain and my desire to heal led me to specialize in neurology,” said Degenhardt in a news release. “I am dedicated to the highest standards of care, and to individualized patient care. I chose Pen Bay because of the exceptionally talented neurology group and the hospital’s dedication to patient care.”

Degenhardt completed her residency in neurology at Harvard University’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She completed a clinical and research fellowship there in multiple sclerosis, followed by a research fellowship in multiple sclerosis at the University of Oxford, UK. She most recently moved from Brooklyn, N.Y., where she was an attending neurologist at New York Methodist Hospital and an assistant professor of clinical neurology at Weill Cornell Medical College. She is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Attracted to the Midcoast by the “endless skies, calm waters and countryside,” Degenhardt lives in Camden with her husband and 2-year-old son. She enjoys hiking, art and reading to her son.
