On Thursday, Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m., Rockland Public Library will screen “I, Borg” for the second evening of The Face of The Other, a three-part film and discussion series that is part of the library’s series of events for the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

Responding to a distress signal, the crew of the USS Enterprise encounters the wreckage of a scouting vessel and finds a single survivor — a young, injured member of the dangerous cybernetic race known as the Borg. As Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stuart) and Guinan (Whoopi Goldberg) relive their trauma at the hands of the Borg, the crew struggles with the idea of using their enemy captive in a plan of inter-species genocide. Stewart, Goldberg, LeVar Burton and others star in this moving and highly rated episode of “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”

After the screening, which will take place in the Friends Community Room of the library, 80 Union St., Bill Halpin and Saskia Huising of Meetingbrook will lead a discussion. “I, Borg” is screened courtesy of CBS-Paramount Television. Special accommodations for persons with disabilities can be made with 48 hours notice by calling 594-0310.
