The following is a synopsis of the 2011 Oceanside High School golf squad:

Team: Oceanside golf.

Coach/years coached current team: Keenan Flanagan, eighth year. Flanagan is the PGA Pro at Rockland Golf Club.

Last year’s record/playoff information: Rockland finished 4-6, shot 350 at the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference championships, qualifying for the state Class B championships. The Tigers shot 372 at the event, finishing 10th among 12 schools. Georges Valley finished 5-5 and fell to Telstar of Bethel 5-2 in the Mountain Valley Conference playoffs.

Roster: Senior Parker Spear; junior Jordan Carter; sophomores Reilly Flanagan, Bethany Schulberg, Anthony Dayboch and J.T. Tobin; and freshmen Zachary Bernard, Josh Clough and Zeke Hamlin.

Graduation losses: Rockland graduated Jacob Perry, while Georges Valley graduated Leah White, Mike Cormier and Anna Sanborn.

Significant impact golfers: Spear, Carter and Reilly Flanagan.

Team strengths: The team’s top three golfers, who will help lead the Mariners into unchartered Class A waters this season.

Team goals: To play and improve each day, said coach Flanagan.

Top league opponents: Oceanside faces the battle of the unknown, moving up to KVAC Class A after Rockland competed in KVAC Class B for years and Georges Valley in the MVC and Class C.

Outlook: Coach Flanagan is shooting for his squad to earn a berth in the state Class A team championships.
