Graduation losses: Derek Miller, Donald Prescott, Joe Nelsen, Pared Meklin, Tyler Fogg, Brandon Knight, John Gerry, Bill Kelly and Ben Staples.

Significant impact players: Sam Meklin, Dan Hendricks, David Harrison, Seth Batty and Travis Stone.

Team strengths: Defense and experience. Quarterback, wide receiver and running back play also looks to be strong along with the offensive line.

Team goals: To improve every day and be the most physically conditioned team in Class B. Also to make the postseason and to “make it fun,” the coach said.

Top league opponents: Leavitt of Turner, Mount Blue of Farmington and Gardiner.

Outlook: The Mariners leave behind the Tigers of Rockland District High School as well as Class C’s Little Ten Conference, making the jump to the more competitive Pine Tree Conference of Class B. Behind the play of Meklin, who threw for 843 yards and six touchdowns last year in addition to a strong running game and hopeful aerial attack, Oceanside hopes to make waves this season and earn a spot in the postseason.

“We expect to make the playoffs and, if we can stay healthy, plan to make some noise,” said Moore.
