An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to and reported the following calls from Aug. 14 through Aug. 20.

Aug. 14

Deputy Robert Wood responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving a single vehicle that lost a tire causing the operator to lose control and strike a guard rail.  Reportable damage was sustained.

Deputies David Johnson and Sgt. Michael Sprague responded to a report of a domestic in Washington. Subsequent to this response, Guy Bourrie, 65, of Washington was arrested on charges of domestic violence assault, obstructing report of a crime and criminal threatening.  The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Subsequent to a traffic stop in Washington, Sgt. Sprague arrested Bruce Labombarde, 19, of Biddeford on charges of operating after suspension and possession of a suspended license. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Deputy James Moore responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Vinalhaven with reported injury. This accident involved a single vehicle whose operator lost control of his vehicle on a curve in the roadway and hit a tree. Both the operator and passenger were transported to Eastern Maine Medical center via LifeFlight helicopter for injuries sustained.

Aug. 15

Deputy Larry Hesseltine began an investigation of theft on Vinalhaven. This is still an active investigation with a witness to the theft. The suspect in this case has yet to be located.

Deputy Hesseltine responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on North Haven involving two vehicles, one of which backed into the other. Reportable damage was sustained.

Deputy Johnson responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in St. George involving a single vehicle whose operator fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a tree.  Reportable damage was sustained.

Aug. 16

Deputy Moore responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Union involving two vehicles. Reportable damage was caused by scrap metal flying out of the bed of the truck.

Deputy Moore responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Hope involving two vehicles, one of which backed into the other. Reportable damage was sustained.

Deputy Nathaniel Jack responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in St. George involving two vehicles, one of which rear-ended the other. Reportable damage was sustained.

Deputy Johnson responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Owls Head involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Reportable damage was sustained.

Aug. 17

Deputy Jack investigated a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Vinalhaven involving two vehicles, one of which backed into the other. Non-reportable damage was sustained.

Deputy Moore began an investigation of theft in Hope. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.

Deputies Jack and Detective Don Murray began an investigation of burglary in South Thomaston. This is still an active investigation with one named suspect.

Deputy Hesseltine responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Vinalhaven involving two vehicles, one of which backed into the other. Non-reportable damage was sustained.

Deputy Matt Elwell conducted a radar detail in Union. The warnings for speed were issued.

Deputy Elwell conducted a radar detail in Hope. Two warnings and two summonses were issued for speed.

Aug. 18

Deputy John Palmer began an investigation of robbery in Appleton. This is still an active investigation with two named suspects who have yet to be located. Probable charges are pending.

Deputy Elwell responded to a report of an erratic vehicle in Rockport. The vehicle was located and the operator was issued a summons for operating after suspension.

Aug. 19

Subsequent to a traffic stop in Owls Head, Sgt. Sprague arrested Peter McClure, 44, of Rockland on a charge of violating a condition of release. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Sgt. Sprague responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Washington involving a single vehicle whose operator swerved to avoid hitting a deer and left the roadway.  Reportable damage was sustained.

Deputy Palmer conducted a radar detail in Union. No violations were observed.

Deputy John Hansen began an investigation of a vehicle theft on North Haven with one suspect named. The vehicle was recovered a short time later. No further details are available at this time.

Aug. 20

Deputy Hansen responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in St. George involving four vehicles. No further details are available at this time.

Sgt. Sprague summoned two juvenile females for alcohol offenses stemming from a “pit party” in Warren.

In total, during this one-week period the Knox County Sheriff’s Office received 205 calls for service. Those calls that are not listed above are such calls as all-terrain vehicle problems, alarms, 911 hang-ups, along with nuisance, erratic vehicle and suspicious complaints.
