Stemwinder Sculpture Works & Gardens will be open over the holiday weekend, offering a several-days opportunity to stroll through the sculpture garden that showcases the work of Jay Sawyer. Typically 50 or more sculptures are on display throughout the naturally beautiful landscape, and Sawyer will be on hand to answer any questions or consider any  project.

The open studio hours will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 3 and 4; Stemwinder also is open the same hours every Monday through October and so will be open on Labor Day.

Currently, Sawyer is in a group show in Damariscotta titled “Mentors” at the Firehouse Center for the Falcon Foundation, and he has a nice profile in the 2011 issue of Maine Discovery Coast Magazine.

Visitors may enter the gallery at 131 Camden Road/Route 90; look for the “patriotic pickup truck” a quarter mile in from Route 1. For more info call 273-2314 or send email toibjubu@yahoo.com. Other scheduled openings are listed at StemwinderSculpture.com.
