The Monday night blues series continues Labor Day, Sept. 5, with perennial favorite Harper playing from 7 to 10 p.m. in the upstairs music room of Time Out Pub, 275 Main St. Admission is $15.

Harper was born in England, grew up in Australia and moved to the United States to pursue his love of the blues, the African-American indigenous American art form. Along the way, he was profoundly influenced by encounters with the people and cultures of Australian aborigines and Native Americans.

The result is an amalgamation of blues, rock, funk, soul and world music as Harper creates a heady mix of roots and jam music through his creative use of the harp and didgeridoo. Harper is backed by his incredible Michigan-based band Midwest Kind.

Coming up in the Monday night series are: Sept. 12, Andrew Jr. Boy Jones; Sept. 19, a Girls With Guitars show; and Sept. 26, Candye Kane. Admission for these artists is $15.
