Penquis Child Development will host an Open House and Head Start Registration Day on Thursday, Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 7 High St. in Rockland.

This is an opportunity to meet the staff and learn first-hand about the benefits of enrolling a child in the Penquis Head Start Program. This event is open to the public and will include fun and creative activities for preschoolers. Every child will receive a gift including a free children’s book. There will be door prizes and an opportunity for a free family photo.

The Head Start preschool program is free to eligible families and provides health screenings for vision, hearing, speech and language, and a nutritious meal at no cost. All of these services and more are provided in a caring and nurturing environment to prepare children for kindergarten.

Registrations are currently being accepted and will be accepted during the open house. If parents or a legal guardian would like to register their child at this event they will need to bring the child’s birth certificate, immunization record, medical insurance/MaineCare and proof of income for the immediate preceding 12 months or last year’s W2 or tax return.
