The Friends of the Library gave a charbroil gas grill to local resident Kathy Mlynarski recently, ending a two month contest.

The grill, a $100 value, was donated to the Friends of the Library by Lowes of Thomaston and raffled off as a fundraiser. Tickets were sold at installments of the popular Artists and Authors Among Us lecture series, and the winner was announced during a lecture by author Jim Nichols. Nichols was promoting his latest novel, “Hull Creek”.

The Authors and Artists Among Us lecture series has been ongoing at the library for the last several years, and is sponsored by the Rose and Samuel Rudman Library Trust. The grill raffle was a new addition to the lectures, and gave residents an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to help defray the cost of the lecture series.

The Friends of the Library hope to hold similar contests in the coming years, and would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Lowes and to the people who participated in this year’s raffle.
