A 32-year-old state prisoner will spend an additional eight years in prison for assaulting another person.

Richard A. Stahursky was sentenced Aug. 10 in Knox County Superior Court to eight years.

He was also sentenced to a concurrent three-year sentence for trafficking in prison contraband, a homemade knife referred to as a shank. The assault involved the use of the shank.

Stahursky was at the prison for aggravated assault.

The following other cases were closed in Knox County Superior Court from Aug. 5 through Aug. 12.

Ashley R. Benner, 27, Tenants Harbor, assault, on July 29, 2008, in Rockland, two years in jail with all but six months suspended, $300 fine; theft on the same date, two years with all but six months suspended, stayed until Sept. 6, probation for 18 months.

Dana E. Kennedy Jr., 38, Appleton, theft and forgery on Oct. 6, 2009, five years with all but nine months suspended, three years probation, restitution of $11,620; theft by deception on Nov. 10, 2009, in Union, five years with all but nine months suspended, three years probation, restitution of $38; violating a condition of release, 30 days in jail; failure to appear after bailed, dismissed.

Elaine E. Matson, 43, Rockland, probation violation, 135 days in jail.
