Hurrah! Good things do come to those who wait patiently. Our darling Bessie was waiting for a home, and now she’s found it! We all miss her very much, but we know that her new family has been waiting for someone like Bessie too, and there is nothing we like better than to see one of our wonderful creatures head out the door to a whole new world of love and adventure.

Thank you, Rockport cousins Ava Balan (left), Paige Chester (center) and Sofia Balan! They donated the proceeds from sales at their lemonade stand at Rockport Harbor to the shelter to help take care of our crowd!

And another big thank you to Owen Morang, who asked friends at his birthday party to bring presents for our animals and not for him. Owen turned five, and we’re tickled pink that he thought of us at this very important time for him.

We’ve been getting out and about a lot lately, and you can look for us this weekend at the Maine Boats, Homes and Harbors annual do in Rockland. Please stop by and say hello and find out about the many ways you can help the shelter.

Still waiting is Lily, a 7-year-old American Eskimo. Lily is very sweet and very shy, and we think she would do best in a home with older children and some cats, which whom she gets along famously. We’ve noticed that her favorite place to sleep is under the desks in the office, where she can keep an eye on everything that’s going on. Her wish for a forever home includes a family that is at home a lot and can take her on short walks for exercise.

Ariel is a wonderful cat, and part of her wonder are her really big paws! This friendly girl has never met anyone she didn’t love, and just wait until you get a pat on the cheek from one of her supersized mitts!

Wish list: We always need paper towels, clay cat litter, kitchen garbage bags, dry cat food, bleach and laundry detergent.

We’d also love some volunteers for walking dogs, spending quality time with cats, taking our animals to vet appointments or helping with cleaning. If you’re up for any of these things please call us at 236-8702. Thank you!

Please stop in and see us and all our beloved lovelies at 146 Camden St. in Rockport. We’re open Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and our website at crarl.org is never closed! And thank you, as always, for your caring and support.
