The Eastport Pirate Festival, which draws more than 10,000 people to the event that celebrates the region’s thalassic heritage and gets everyone in town dressed up like a pirate for the entire weekend, is looking for the best street performers on the planet. Selected buskers are allowed to put out their “hat” and receive a stipend, promotion and performance time on the center stage.

More than 95 percent of the festival, set for Sept. 9 through 11, is free to participants. There is non-stop entertainment, music and events. In addition to buskers performing in the streets, this year’s Eastport Pirate Festival feature the Midcoast-based Pirates of The Dark Rose.

“We are looking for all types of buskers from rope walkers to acrobats, sword swallowers, magicians, clowns, mimes, fiddle players and everything in between,” said festival founder John Miller.

Interested buskers can check out the website at eastportpiratefestival.com. To inquiry about busking, send information to Chris Brown, Eastport Pirate Fest C/O S.L. Wadsworth, Water Street, Eastport, ME 04631 or send email to john.miller2@hotmail.com.
