Country music luminary Tony Booth will perform twice during the annual CountryGrass Festival Saturday, Aug. 20 at Broken Acres Farm and Family Retreat, 160 Valley Road/Route 206.

CountryGrass will open Friday, Aug. 19 at 4 p.m.; gates will open at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 20 and 21. There is free camping in the rough, clean rest rooms and showers. Lee’s Snack Bar will be open throughout the weekend. Seating is limited, so bring lawn chairs.

Booth has many accolades to his credit. He started the collection in 1971, when he was the Academy of Country Music’s Most Promising Male Artist. In 1973, he was nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year along with Conway Twitty, Buck Ownes, Merle Haggard, Ray Price and Charley Rich.

The Tony Booth Band won ACM’s Band of the Year award in 1970, ’71 and ’72, as well as an ASCAP award in 1974 for “Carwash Blues.” More recently, Booth’s 2009 “Is this all there is to Honky Tonk” was nominated for Song of the Year. Also in 2009, he was named Vocalist of the Year by the Will Rogers Academy of Western Music. Over his career, Booth has recorded a dozen albums for United Artist, Capitol, MGM and Heart of Texas.

Also performing during the three-day festival are a number of Midcoast musicians including Bob Elston, the Frye Mountain Band, Phil Clement, Everard Dodge and Roseanna Rogers; as well as Ken and Jane Brooks, Phat Grass, the Step in Time Cloggers, Heaven’s Blend, Marlene Carpenter, Jeff Clark, the Higgins Family, Ron Anderson, Dolores Reid, Burt Hoppler, Slim Andrews, Sidekick Band, Brenda Millett, Bill Giasson, Dan Corbett, Cady Lila Beaulieu, Jared Alley, Bing and Nancy Crosby, Fred Couverette, the Freedom Riders, Chris Fyfe and many others.
