The Wallwork gallery at 67 Pascal Ave. will open a one-person show of paintings by Waldoboro resident Scott Davis with an artist’s reception Friday, Aug. 13 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Davis lived and worked for years in New York City before moving to Maine in 1993. His work is included in the collections of the Guggenheim Museum, Portland Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, Williams College Museum of Art, Colby College Museum and the Farnsworth Art Museum. among his 10 solo shows are ones at the Center for Maine Contemporary Art of Rockport, the Nancy Margolis Gallery in New York City and the Wenger Gallery in Los Angeles.

Davis taught painting and drawing at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and currently lives and works in a storefront studio in downtown Waldoboro. The show at Wallwork will be of his recent minimalist paintings, which have the feeling of a combination of Shaker furniture and haiku poetry.
