Kristen Margaret Sawyer of Tenants Harbor was crowned the 2011 Maine Sea Goddess at the Aug. 3 Coronation at the Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland.

The coronation was held at 8 p.m. on the Main Stage at Harbor Park on the first day of the festival, which was open free to the public for “Home Town Day.” A total of 18 young ladies were vying for the crown.

Kelly Ann Leidenroth of Warren was named the Crown Princess and Brittany Anne Young of South Thomaston was named Miss Congeniality. The latter was chosen by her fellow contestants for the honor.

Sawyer is a 2011 graduate of Georges Valley High School, and she is the daughter of the Rev. Wayne and Margaret Sawyer.

Leidenroth is a 2011 graduate of Medomak Valley High School and the daughter of Kim Leidenroth and the late Dr. Craig Leidenroth.

Young is a 2011 graduate of Rockland District High School and the daughter of John and Sonya Hendricks and Norman and Elaine Young.

The event included special music, and the Maine Sea Princesses were escorted by sailors from the USS Mahan, which has been visiting Rockland for the festival.

Eric Hebert served as the master of ceremonies for the event, and it was announced that in the first day of the festival more than 4,000 pounds of lobster had been sold.
