The final concert in the summer series at the Rockville Community Chapel will be presented by the Breakers Jazz Sunday, Aug. 14 at 2 p.m. The chapel is located on Old Rockland Street, off Route 17 behind the Green Thumb.
Breakers Jazz, which is in its third season, is conducted by Marlene Hall and is well-known in the area. The group has played at many functions including the Seasoned Citizens Prom, the Bob Gagne Cancer Fund Dinner, Maine Lobster Festival and the Farnsworth Summer Series. The group is comprised of community members, high school students, college students and music educators. The Breakers play a variety of big band music including “Caravan,” “Blue Skies,” “Georgia on my Mind” and “In the Mood.”
Lemonade and home-baked goodies will be for sale on the lawn during intermission. Donations will be accepted at the door with proceeds going toward continuing renovations of the chapel and to pay down the necessary loan for the new roof and repairs to the belfry.
