Brooke Pacy is the August Artist of the Month at Waldoboro Public Library, 958 Main St./Route 220. Her favorite media are oil and watercolor. Painting, writing and teaching have been primary reasons to get up in the morning at various times in during her life, Pacy said.

“All three allow concentration on ephemera and a particular moment and keep focus and curiosity sharp,” she explained.

Pacy’s art instruction has been sporadic and includes three years studying classical drawing and painting with Elizabeth Byrd Mitchell in Baltimore, where Pacy raised four children and taught English literature and writing; watercolor sessions with Jean Fulton, also in Baltimore; and, more recently, with Tom McCobb on the Midcoast. Currently, she is painting with a group under the guidance of Friendship’s Katharina Keoughan in Damariscotta.
