Savage Oakes Vineyard and Winery will present the Dave Keller Band Sunday, Aug. 7 at 1 p.m. The concert is part of a series of free summer events at Savage Oakes’ picturesque location, 174 Barrett Hill Road.

Based in Montpelier, Vt., the Dave Keller Band has a reputation for dynamic, soul-stirring performances that extends throughout New England. Keller is a singer/guitarist who has forged a distinctive style intense and soulful, gritty and sweet. Like the best blues and soul men before him, Keller learned his art firsthand from the masters including Mighty Sam McClain, Paul Rishell, Fontella Bass and the late great Robert Ward. Most recently, Keller was featured as singer and co-writer on “Living in the Light,” the new CD by legendary guitarist Ronnie Earl.

The Dave Keller Band features three other top-shelf musicians: Jan Schultz on Fender bass; Brett Hoffman on drums; and Ira Friedman on Hammond organ.

The free concert is open to the public, which is encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a day exploring the fields and hills of Maine’s most productive vineyard, with 10 varieties of cold-hardy hybrid wine grapes. Savage Oakes offers free wine tasting. For more information, call 785-2828 or visit savageoakes.com.
