Pen Bay Healthcare announces that Dr. Peter C. Vickerman has joined Pen Bay Pediatrics, located in the Pen Bay Professional Park on Route 1 in Rockport.

“My family and I are very excited to join Pen Bay Pediatrics and become members of the Midcoast community,” said Vickerman in a news release. “It’s a great place to raise a family, and Pen Bay Pediatrics is a super team in a wonderful location.”

Vickerman grew up in Annapolis, Md. and graduated with a degree in biological sciences from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. He received his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y.

After joining the U.S. Army, he served his residency in pediatrics at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. From Hawaii he moved to Alaska, where he was chief of pediatric services for Bassett Army Community Hospital at Ft. Wainwright. Vickerman was deployed to Iraq, where he served as a battalion surgeon and advisor to the battalion commander. He returned to serve at Bassett Army Community Hospital for the remainder of his Army career.

Vickerman is married with one daughter and another on the way. There are also two family dogs.

Pediatrics was his field of choice, he said, for one simple reason: “I love kids.” Vickerman is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Vickerman will start seeing patients in early August. For more information, or to make an appointment, please call 593-5600. Pen Bay Pediatrics is online at pbmc.org/pediatrics.
