Dowling Walsh Gallery will host two exhibitions through the end of August. The first, featuring work from gallery artist Stephen Hodecker, will open with a 5 to 8 p.m. reception Friday, July 29. This work will be displayed through Aug. 28.

The second exhibition, featuring work from gallery artist Alexandra Tyng, will open with a 5 to 8 p.m. reception Friday, Aug. 5 and also run through Aug. 28. This exhibition, titled “Right Here: New Maine Island Paintings,” will feature more than 30 paintings. Based in Philadelphia, Tyng has spent summers in Maine since childhood. A landscape and figurative painter, Tyng displays her full range of subject matter by offering portraits of places and people, from the aerial to the intimate. The exhibit features views of Mount Desert, Monhegan and Indian Island.

Dowling Walsh Gallery is located on Main Street, directly across from the Farnsworth Art Museum. It is open six days a week, Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. (Mondays by appointment). For more information, visit dowlingwalsh.com or call 596-0084.
