The Monday night blues series continues Aug. 1 with Chrissie O’Dell & One Hot Mess playing from 7 to 10 p.m. in the upstairs music room of Time Out Pub, 275 Main St. Admission is $10.

Chrissie O’Dell & One Hot Mess had been percolating under the radar until their July 2010 debut release “If I Had a Dime,” a “downtown record” of 10 eclectic and gritty blues bombshells, all but one band originals. Thanks to O’Dell’s powerful and emotional vocal delivery and switch-blade sharp lyrics about true-to-life stories, the band has fans in countries as far away as Macedonia, Croatia, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, Italy and Spain.

One Hot Mess features a cast of heavyweight musicians: John Bendy on guitar; bassist Craig Costa; “Papa” John Mole on drums; and Bill Quinn on the Hammond organ. Dynamic frontwoman O’Dell and her high-energy band represented the Long Island Blues Society in Memphis for the 2011 International Blues Challenge.

Next up in the weekly series is the Bryan Lee Band Aug. 8 ($10). For more information, visit Time Out Blues at northatlanticbluesfestival.com.
