Hope Library hosts potluck dinner
HOPE — On Friday, July 22, from 6 to 8 p.m., Hope Library will host a potluck dinner at the library in the Hope Town Office. There will be brief presentations on library programs and special collections, a chance for new patrons to get library cards, and music. The book sale room will also be open. The library is located in the Hope Town Office, at the corner of Routes 105 and 235. Services are free and open to people in Hope and surrounding towns. Washington lakes meeting set for July 21
THOMASTON — Members of the Federated Church, located at 8 Hyler St. in Thomaston will hold an indoor yard sale on Saturday, July 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The $1 a bag sale starts at 11 a.m. Clothes, household goods, toiletries and baked goods.
Public supper, auction in Rockland
ROCKLAND — A public supper followed with a time and talent auction, homemade beans, casseroles, and desserts is planned for Saturday, July 23 from 5 to 6 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Route 17. The auction begins at 7 p.m. Some auction items are: pies, greeting cards, cord of wood, Irish soloist, rend a computer geek, homemade dinner. The cost is $7 per person. Gushee family reunion planned for August
The 52nd Gushee annual family reunion is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 14. All Gushee family members, relatives of family members and friends of the family are invited to join the reunion festivities. The cottages of Tina and David Bryant and the late Floyd and Elizabeth Gushee will be the gathering spot. As in the past, the group is invited to gather at noon; a business meeting officiated by President Joel Gushee, potluck luncheon and an auction will follow. Games, activities, and swimming are planned for afternoon fun. Attendees are asked to take lots of items for the afternoon auction. Funds raised will provide scholarships for qualifying Gushee relatives and other causes. Food for the buffet table is a must, along with meal-serving supplies and beverages for families. It is also advised to take a chair for oneself. The Gushees always have a sunny summer day for their reunion, it is said, so take sunscreen.
